Welcome back from the wonderful long weekend. I hope that everyone enjoyed time with their families and friends. We will be very busy this week in Room 23 ( and a bit warm! ).
In Word Work this week we will learn about lowercase m and n and the sounds that each makes. We will also introduce two new sight words "I" and "to". In Readers Workshop we will review what good independent reading looks like. I am very excited to report that the children can read independently for 7 minutes. We have learned that reading means a lot of things, such as telling the story through the pictures, making the story up in our imaginations, and some of us are starting to read some words. This week we will learn how to partner read. In Writers Workshop we have been doing a lot of interactive writing or writing together. We have been working on telling our stories through pictures and how to stretch words out to try and hear the sounds in them. In math we have been working on counting and writing numbers 1-5. Above is one of our number writing posters that is hanging in our classroom which can help us remember how to write our numbers. I look forward to seeing many of you on Wednesday September 9th for Curriculum Night where you can learn a bit more about our classroom! Becky
