Hello everyone,
I hope that everyone is well. The children are settling in nicely to school. We have been very busy in Room 23. Don't be surprised if your little one is coming home exhausted. We pack a lot into our day together. Over the next few weeks, you should begin to see an improvement in this area. This week in school we are starting to learn some of the typical Kindergarten routines. We have started to learn about Readers Workshop. We have learned that learners who are beginning to read can spend time with a book telling the story from the pictures. We are learning to "read" independently each day. We are also learning the routines for our Writers Workshop time. We are practicing drawing detailed pictures to tell our stories. Some of the children are trying to write letters and or words too! In math, we are learning to subitize. The ability to subitize is an important part of developing a strong mathematical foundation. Subitizing is when children are able to instantly see how many. Next week, we will begin our Word work routine beginning to learn proper letter formation for lowercase letters and the sounds that are associated with each. Comments are closed.
